Meeting called to order by Chairman Campbell at 7:00 p.m.

VILLAGE OF ELLSWORTH COUNCIL MINUTES

REGULAR MEETING

Present: Campbell, Boss, Vollmer, Rasmussen, M B Drenth, M. Drenth and Stewart

 Others: Robert Daunter, Tina Sundelius (Antrim Co. News), Duane Arnott and Bill Alward.

 

Meeting called to order by President Campbell at 7:06 p.m.

1.  Motion by Rasmussen/Drenth to accept the April 11, 2011 minutes as presented. CARRIED / 6-0

 

Public Input:

Bill Alward: wanting information on building a pole barn on his property on High St.

Council referred him to the planning commission.

Department Reports:

Police:  

Officer Daunter informed council that police coverage for Memorial Day, and Ellebration, July 2 are covered.

 

Office Daunter also informed council that he will be retiring as of July 1, 2011 and recommended that John Morris, one of our local police officers, be considered for the Police Chief position.

Streets:

2. Motion by Rasmussen/Boss to donate $250.00 to the Ellebration. CARRIED 6-0

Discussion Items:

a. Wooden Shoe Park will be opening on May 13, 2011.

b. Village auditors from Baird, Cotter, and Bishop will be doing the village audit June 1, 2011

 

 c. July fireworks will take place on July 2 in conjunction with Ellebration

 d. There will be a  fund raiser (golf scramble) to help with the cost of the fire works sponsored

     by the Gold Nugget Bar at the Mallard Golf Club June 11. 

 e. Breezeway garage sale May 27 and 28 from Atwood to Boyne Fall.

 f. Duane Arnott, Village archery instructor informed the village of the addition of 3 more certified teachers to          teach archery to children.

g.   Rasmussen gave estimates on insulating the two Village Garages

 

 Action Items:

 

3. Motion by Boss/M.B. Drenth to purchase a new mower deck for the 1435 tractor from the Work and Play Shop in Atwood at a cost of $3397.20. CARRIED.  6-0.

 

Budget Amendments:

 

4. Motion by Rasmussen/Boss to approve the following budget amendment:

            Increase Zoning/Planning Commission (101-410-70210) $620 from $600 to $1220.

 

 

5.  Motion by Vollmer/Rasmussen to pay the bills. CARRIED.  6-0

 

6.  Motion by Rasmussen/Stewart to adjourn.  8:10 p.m.
